Postgraduate study information

Science Notes

Science Notes is an initiative from the SNAP committee. Postgrad students from various departments are being interviewed about their research for a fortnightly programme on Thursday evenings, on Toroa Radio.

The interviews are interspersed with the student's favourite music, and each programme is repeated the following Thursday evening. Follow the link for podcast links and further information

STAT 501 Statistical Modelling for Research - Semester One

The aim of this paper is to provide postgraduate students with many of the important statistical tools that they require in their research. Students will gain experience in using modern statistical software (R and WinBugs). Topics covered will include probability, model fitting, model selection, Bayesian statistics, hierarchical modelling and computer-intensive methods.
